We suggest you learn how to make a Minnie cake with sugar paste. A perfect decoration for a birthday cake!
Ingredients
- 1 cake of 18 cm high
- 1 jar of icing (or homemade icing)
- 650 g of red sugar dough
- 75 g of red gum paste
- 70 g black sugar paste
- 60 g of flesh sugar dough
- 50 g white sugar paste
- 30 g cornflour and icing sugar
- 1 black food pen
- 1 food glue
Production
Cake icing
- Use a cake already ready and cooled (the recipe of choice, here it is a red velvet made with a cake mix). Lay the cake face down. Cut the cake into 2 or 3 layers.
- Spread icing before re-stacking. Cover the cake completely with a thin layer of icing and allow at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
Make the knot of Minnie
- Meanwhile, prepare Minnie's knot. Spread finely the gum red paste and cut a strip about 4 cm wide. In this band, cut 2 rectangles 10 cm long. Crease the ends of rectangles and fold them around themselves by wrapping them around a support (a small roll for example).
- Also prepare the center of the knot by doing the same but folding the edges inwards. Let all these elements dry in the open air.

- Also prepare Minnie's face by cutting the various elements of her face into black, fleshy, white and pink sugar paste (a mixture of red and pink for the tongue).
- Overlay the different elements with a little food glue to get the final face.
- Leave a little dry before drawing the details with a black food pen.
Cover the cake with sugar paste
- Roll out the red sugar paste on a surface sprinkled with a mixture of icing sugar and cornflour to prevent sticking.
- Place the cakes on your serving dish and cover with white sugar paste smoothing the edges.
- Cut out the excess sugar paste.
Cake decoration
- Paste Minnie's face in the center of the cake.
- Then assemble the pieces of the knot and glue them with some food glue.
- Finish by placing peas of white sugar paste on the knot.
- Finally form a roll of red sugar and a white sugar paste and roll them together to get a two-colored pudding to deposit around the cake for a nice finish.
